[pchelpers] Re: Free Antivirus

You might have some spyware or a Trojan that will change your settings and
make your computer slow down the rule of thumb is not to have more than
one antivirus running in the background as it updates - it might conflict
with one another sooner or later. . Its good to edit your registry too if
you are too nervous- use a registry cleaner- like reg cleaner, back your
registry first before you start. Its good to have only one firewall not
two--it may be fine for awhile as it does update itself and all of a sudden
you got problems, If you are using windows firewall and another one turn
one off. Scandisk and defrag that will help a lot too- Clean out your
cookies and your cache and your tmp files . Use disk clean up too--Do a
cold boot will bring up your resources, also you have the same provider as
I do-- they tell you they have no outage when there is- frustrating to
say the least - you can go in in command prompt type ipconfig space then
/renew and hit the enter key usually that will renew your proper ip
address-- reset your modem if that doesn't work well they have trouble
somewhere in the Niagara Peninsula-I have just left it alone and soon I am
back on line. Their favorite trick is to tell you your nic card (Ethernet
card isn't working) -- hehehe!!! then when their glitch is fixed you are
back online. There isn't much competition here - just Bell and Cogeco
Cable-- too bad - competition is good because it makes them work harder to
give you better service. I will say one thing Windows XP has a conniption
when the internet goes off - throws everything off -------- Jackie
