I have just bought one of the Linksys wirless routers, to connect to my
NTL/Virgin media cable modem.
I have set it up and it is running fine, without the security mode being
activated.
We have 4 machines, to static PCs and 2 laptops. One has inbuilt wirless and is
also running fine, the other one, I intend to buy one of your wireless adaptor
PC cards.
Could you supply me with step by step, "even a fool could follow" directions.
I have managed to set up the number of DCHP or whatever, to 4 thus I think
making the router only accept four PCs/laptops.
I have read a little about the different protections on the internet and think
that WPA personal would be right for us, but there it is, the limit of my
understanding.
If it isn't too much trouble, when you send thiese instructions, could you
supply a little "why it's done this way" so as I can understand what I'm doing
as I follow your instructions.
I have printed out the security setting s from the 192.168 page but it's a
foreign language to me.......why for instance would I choose TKIP or AES
Systems are .....Linksys....wrt 54g Router...... version 7
4 devices, 2 PC and 2 laptops
both PCs have win xp pro with sp2, one laptop has xp home edition and the other
has Vista home.
One of the laptops use a Belkin/Micradigital 802.11g wireless cardbus adaptor,
with wep and wpa - psk
Billy................ps hope this makes sense.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
