This sounds like one of your extensions does not work in the newest
version. Did you try starting FF 1.0.2 in safe mode? (FF's own one, not
your computer's operating systems)

You don't really need the newest version; Mozilla fixes bugs and
security holes before anyone gets around to exploiting them. Version 1.0
is much safer (and will be for at least a few months) than any IE
version ever will be. Open source does not work like Microsoft's IE
where you get fixes after the security issues are publicly known for
months and years and many others are kept secret until some cracker
finds them.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
