[pchelpers] Error message - Please help

I need some more help.

I went to run and typed in 

Msconfig

To check out something. All I got was the message

DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\MFC42u.DLL

Is not a valid Window image. Please check this against your installation
diskette.

I get the same message when I  want to use the diskfragmenter and if I click
on "system information" under System Tools. 

What does all that mean?

I checked the installation disk and it tells me that my version on the
computer is newer than what is on the disk. Of course, it is. It has been
updated regularly. 

I checked on my laptop. The above file is on the laptop and it gives me no
trouble. I can use msconfig on the laptop and it works.

How can I make the file work on my desktop computer?

I am getting sooooooooo tired of this whole computer business.
