[pchelpers] Re: Enabling Hard Disk

I did try all those suggestions and nothing made any difference. However, as
someone mentioned, I went into the Disk Management. What confused me was that
the hard drive was listed in Disk Management but there was no option to
partition, format, etc. The only option available for me to choose from was
"Write Signature." Since I'd tried everything else, I thought try that. Sure
enough, Windows found the hard drive after that and all the partitioning and
formatting options then became available! I'm still not sure what Write
signature does, but obviously it was needed.

As far as reinstalling Windows, I had too many problems afterward, so I just
formatted and started over (ugh!). But hey, at least I'm back to a normal
Windows startup again. Things sure have changed since Windows 3.1 and 95.
With those OS, you could easily reinstall Windows with no adverse effects and
carry on as usual. It seems newer Windows versions are far more fussy!

Anyway, thanks for all the help everyone!

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
