This sounds like a good reason to me also, but on the other hand,
standards-compliant screen readers know how to handle quoted material
in email.

Those who do that don't do it in order to quote a lot, but in order to
reply to several points (as you see in this message). With all replies
at the top, there may be some ambiguity about what point a specific
reply may be for. For example, there could be seven yes/no questions,
with the respondent putting 6 answers at the top, which would
certainly make the entire reply useless.

John has already edited the footer so that standards-compliant email
programs chop it (and anything following) off automatically.

On the other hand, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a single page
with all of the info that is currently in the footer.
