you can modify "most" DVD Roms and Players to be "Region Free" (Region 0) 
this will allow it to play a movie from anywhere.
use at your own risk, some and just a series of keypresses on the remote, 
some require swinging a soldering iron.
most DVD-Roms can be done with a firmware upgrade
