[pchelpers] DVD

Hello all, hope you're all well.........I have a question about DVD's, not the 
PC type but the type that plugs into you TV.
I was listening to a chap telling someone that DVD's (players) have a code that 
allows you to watch discs from say......America or other parts of the world.  
The essence was that the world is divided into 5 zones and each zone has it's 
own code, and DVD's sold in England had a different code than those sold in 
America or Hong Kong etc. The reason was to stop disks being brought from 
America and sold here before the movie had been released in the UK or 
elsewhere, but if you knew the codes, you could program the DVD player to 
accept these disks.  Anyone heard of this? or better still know the codes for 
these world zones
