Scott & Gerald,
With the DSL Modem several line adapters are normally included that
should be used for everything except the DSL Modem. If he is using a
splitter there should be no problem having both the DSL modem and the
regular modem hooked up at the same time as long as the regular modem is
on an adapter.
I use both since my computer is also my FAX machine.
