When I restart my PC DSL does not work. I then switch modular plugs and used a
free service for New York City called Metconnect. Someone can use any dial up
service. I leave the dial up on for several minutes and disconnect. Then I
connect my DSL modular plug. Presto DSL works.
The only clue I have is that I leave the internal modem modular plug in the
PC at all times. I also use a splitter since the modular jack is behind some
furniture and is troublesome to keep moving it about.
What do you think of the setup? Sounds weird but it works.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
