Ubuntu is great at accessing the internet, but when it comes to a local
network it seems to speak a foreign language. For instance, I have a win
98 machine on the local network that was used to write my novel. It has
been kept using netbeui up to now for privacy reasons. Its local TCP
address is either 10.0.0.2 or 192.168.0.12 (there are 2 network cards in
it).
Drive D: has been shared over the network on TCP and NETBEUI.
The question is obviously how to have it rejoin the network so Ubuntu
can see the shared files. Is there a reasonable way to do this?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
