Sounds like the system was set to automatically restart when a BSOD
occurred.  I had that happen to me; I'd get a blue flash and the
computer would restart, and I couldn't figure out what the problem
was.  I now make sure that "Automatically restart" is turned OFF.  To
check this, go to Control Panel, System, Advanced tab, Startup and
Recovery Settings.  DON'T change anything on top, unless you're a
masochist (or unless you know what you're doing).  The item in
question is in the bottom half.

Something that I heard that someone else did is use a video camera to
record it, then find the right frame in the recording.
