[pchelpers] Re: Computer won't boot

Thanks to everyone that responded. I DID have to reformat the
drive. I managed to get into setup by holding the 'insert' key down
as it booted - it went into Setup and I changed the boot sequence to
CDRom. Then I tried to do a Repair on XP Pro, but I could not. In
fact, I could not get back into Setup again either. The only option
open to me was to format the drive and reinstall Windows, which I did.

He said he had not opened any attachments in email. Nor did he
notice any 'Santa' surprises. I am thinking maybe it was a corrupt
BIOS. One strange thing though, after reinstalling everything, I
wanted to go back into BIOS and change the boot sequence
back........hitting F8 takes me right back to the same window (Safe
Mode, normal boot into windows, etc.) I cannot, for the life of me,
get into SetUp again. This has been very strange.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
