F1 and DEL seem to work for most off-the-shelf motherboards.

I don't think I've ever seen a case where an antivirus program needed
to be disabled to installed a program, even though many vendors say
that you should do so. I've never heard of a vendor suggesting
uninstalling. Considering the number of CDs and so forth that have
unintentionally had viruses on them (even Microsoft has had this),
turning off or removing the AV is foolish, I think. If a program does
not install correctly with AV running (not including false positives,
which the AV vendor needs to fix), I would tell the program vendor
that their program is defective.

Note that sometimes "nothing there to repair" can be fixed by a
technician with the right tools.

A few weeks ago, Windows suddenly wanted to format my flash drive
because it appeared to be empty. A few minutes later, after poking at
it with a disk editor, it was working again.

"Exit" is what you type after you're done doing whatever you need to
do there. You can type HELP to get a list of commands available.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
