Jo
Again if we knew the brand we could tell you the key to get into BIOS, I
would try the following
DEL
F2
CTRL+ALT+DEL
those are the most common
Compaq uses F11
continue to reboot trying the above one at a time till you get in
Windows does not repair the BIOS that is done by flashing with a floppy
or bootable CD since you did neither you did not change the BIOS,
Windows has nothing to do with what is on the CMOS chip. I am still
thinking virus or worse a rootkit. and you no longer have to open an
email attachment or download a file to get infected those nasties come
through activex and all the lovely holes in IE and OE and Windows, media
player if Microsoft made it it has holes. don't be fooled into believing
that the only you get a virus or trojan or rootkit is by clicking on
something. as far as the santa virus telling you its there or if he
would know it, thats not the case. A virus is not going to tell you "hay
I am here and I am going to start deleting your files" I am convenced he
was infected.
