About the only time I have trouble is when there's something messed up.

Probably should have tried to uninstall Norton before installing
Avast. You might consider having him uninstall Avast, restarting,
uninstalling Norton, restarting, then reinstalling Avast, if that
won't cause too much hair loss on your part. :)

I've heard about a Norton remover that's available from somewhere or
other, but apparently it's a not-free product. I have a batch file
that rips it out, but I haven't updated it with current versions.
However, if you run into problems, I can send it to you; it might rip
out enough to do the job.
