[pchelpers] Re: Blocked website by Sophos

Ekhart,

The  warning  came  from  Sophos  while at  work  and  Sophos  did  not
allow me  to access  the  mentioned  website.  At  work  we  use  IE 6  with
Windows  XP Professional
Office 2003   and  Lotus  Notes  which  integrates  seamlessly. The  website
is  a  benign  website  but  obviously  became  infected.  I  notified  the
website  administrator but  action  is  up  to  him.

The  virus  appears  to  be  aberrant  javascript  code  that  causes  the
infected  computer  browser  to  be  hijacked  to  malicious  pop up
ads. Exactly  what  the  virus  does is  beyond  my  comprehension.

I  cannot  mention  who  I  work  for  since  this  can  cause  termination
of  employment.   And  I  do  not  think  tci  would  like   this  thread  on
the  search  engines.  But I  did  get  the  information  that  I  wanted
here. Thank  you! -  Gerald

You're talking about a different link; the one in my post above was
provided by Scott (and my email and its "you" was addressed to him).

You're talking about www.tciconvention.com, but i still haven't
understood whether you got a warning in your browser like i did in
Firefox or whether your antivirus program produced the warning.

What browser are you using?

I don't understand what you meant with "Was my organization LAN
malfunctioning?" It's not your LAN that is allowing or blocking access

to Internet sites; it's either an antimalware program or an intelligent
browser like Firefox. Internet Explorer, at least my version, does not
block access to www.tciconvention.com.

BTW, this looks like a very benign site, so i'm sure any malware there
has been placed there by outsiders due to the site's lack of
professional protection against malware and hacking.
