[pchelpers] Re: Be Careful

To a virus it doesn't matter that you are using a PREVIEW pane. If you view
an infected email in the preview pane you will be infected with that virus
even though you didn't actually "open" the email. Some viruses are able to
come in the body of an email now and don't need you to open an attachment.
Some are coming straight off the net and don't need to use email at all
until after you're infected. We keep being instructed to use an anti-virus
program and keep it updated, use a firewall, don't open attachments you were
not expecting --even from people you know (common courtesy these days is to
inform one that an attachment is coming) viruses can make it seem like they
are from people you know using their address books, and don't open mail from
folks who don't follow these rules-delete it. I'm sure there may be
precautions I've left out. Oh yeah, keep your system updated with the latest
critical updates and patches for your operating system and software.

Does having the pains necessarily mean you will get a virus? Can you explain
how this works I'm having problems getting my room mate to get rid of hers
and her account is on my PC.
