[pchelpers] Re: Backing up registry

On XP click start> run
Then type regedit then press the enter key
A window will open up with Computer
at the top with a minus sign to the right and
several other lines that start with HKEY do not touch thes
Click the minus sign left of Computer the lines with disappear
Click on File and then click on export
An explore window will open with the header title Registry Export
Make a note of the Folder (it will probably be My Documents
At the bottom type in the window a name you can remember
I use something like R20080822
then pres enter.

It will take a while to build the file so do not be hasty but let it finish
When it is finished the registry backup will be stored in that file
