acked software engineers will turn to cybercrime as the global financial
crisis makes it increasingly difficult to find legitimate technology
jobs, an industry expert has warned.
Chief executive of Russian security firm KasperskyLab, Eugene Kaspersky,
fears many talented IT specialists laid off by companieswill be lured by
the prospect of big money and a low risk of being caught.
“I’m very afraid that the financial crisis willstimulate these guys,” he
told IT Wire. “In times of recession there is obviouslymore unemployment
and this leads to crime. There is no reason to think thiswon’t happen in
the area of cybercrime also.”
