Have you tied the free version of Avira? I seem to recall seeing
Virtumundo reported somewhere or other on a system that I was working
on, but it wasn't an issue.

Hmm, based on what I see, it's similar or related to a pest that I had
trouble removing. If you know what the infected files are, but can't
remove them (or they come back), what you can do is change the
security settings on those files so that they can't be executed
(right-click, Properties, Security, Advanced, for each item click
Edit, and put a check mark in the Deny box for the Execute item).
Restart, and you should then be able to clean it out.
