[pchelpers] Advice connecting broadband router

I recently purchased a broadband router (D-Link 2.4Ghz 54 Mbps), both for
security with the firewall possibilities and also for more mobility with my
laptop. However I've noticed that my broadband connection is now a bit
slower (I've got DSL 2MB connection). Is this normal? (E.g. last night I was
watching a streaming football game and I had to switch my connections so
that it was straight to the modem and not through the router - otherwise it
was hanging up all the time.)

I've got the router set up for maximum encryption (WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK) with a
long key. Does anyone have any suggestions as to setting up this in the best
way - so that I've got decent speed and no one will be using my wireless
connection? Or could someone point me in the right direction on the web for
some good advice.

Everything is set up fine with my router and I'm getting excellent signal
strength.

Hope that this is clear enough. (BTW I'm running XP home)

Regards,

Scott

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
