[pchelpers] Re: Admin login on new windows installation

I have the same problem with my computer. It is a zombie on someone's network.
I did a clean re-install (wiped 3 x ) and I could not activate it. So I called
the Microsoft helpline for that, and they could not help me. While I was online
with them, Norton Internet Security started to install "all by itself". I was
not even on the Internet.
I talked to a instructor here at the college, and he said my computer is
being used by some hacker. The problem is - people that work here are not
allowed to even touch my computer, something about liability. But I will try to
find a chance to talk to him about that and will let everybody know what he
said.

This one got me puzzling. I received a machine from an office (customer)
in which windows was corrupt. To fix it I installed a fresh copy from CD
(license and all that). Now it presents an administrator login screen
with blank password. The owner gave me the original password. It no
longer works because this is a fresh install. So no matter what password
I enter it responds with:"The system cannot log you on due to the
following error:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Please try again or consult your system administrator."

This makes no sense. The man gave me what he had but windows rejects it.
There are a number of sites that talk about this:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/general-computer-security/38339-lsass-exe-error-specified-domain-does-not-exist.html

It is a story told in many forums (apparently). So far I have not found
a solution which applies here. Can I have your thoughts please?
