Just did that and it worked fine. So check that the table that you are 
importing in to is closed.
It used not to work in previous Access versions if some of the Add Ins for 
importing were not loaded. I always do a full install, do absolutely 
everything you can do before trying these "fancy"  bits.

If it's working correctly the wizard pops up and asks which columns match 
what and if the excel book has more than one sheet which sheet you want and 
so on.

Check your addin manager and good luck
