[pchelpers] Re: AVI to VHS

Nigel,

I really like your answer. I have seen different TV Tuner cards, yet I do
not remember if they have a video out or not. I am certain that some of them
must have video out. The next problem I foresee is that of making the
connection between the VCR and the TV Tuner card. Again I am not to sure of
the TV Tuner cards would have what we call here in the States, (US) is that
of an RCA connector. If the TV Tuner card has such an output and this type
of connector, and you have a stereo audio output, left and right channels
from either your TV Tuner card or your Sound card, you should be able to
interconnect the two and then synchronize the start of both. I am certain
that you then may get a reasonable copy of AVI to VHS. I am going to try to
get more info on TV Tuner cards, after accumulating this info I will get
back to the list. Have a nice day, always remember to keep smiling.

Well now, here's a question really worthy of all our residents!

I have no experience of this procedure but it seems to me that all you need
is some means of getting a composite video signal out and an audio signal
out.

The audio is easy, simply connect to the line out socket on your sound card.
The video out may be easy too. Check out the links on John's TV tuner card
page, http://modecideas.com/faq66.html If you follow the TV Tuner Cards
link you will find a link to "Fast - the art of digital video". Their Fast
Movie Machine II has PAL and NTSC video outputs so you could connect these
bits to your VCR and Bob's your uncle (typical NZ slang for "she'll be
right")!

Of course, nothing to do with computers is this easy but it's got to be
worth a go. If you get it working, please post a message about it because I
would like to know all about it too.

Cheers
Nigel
