The Intel site doesn't seem to make it especially clear, but the
retention mechanism should be designed into the board. If present,
it's usually relatively obvious to use; the hard part may be getting
the card back out again, if not familiar with the mechanism.
For notherboards that don't have such a mechanism, including on PCI
slots, I generally bend the bracket of the card outward a bit, if
possible (occasionally the bracket is reinforced and/or there is
little play available for bending the bracket); this helps keep the
end of the card from popping out.
Most 8x cards will work in 4X slots; the box and/or manufacturer's
site should clarify this. Some BIOSes have a setting for the AGP
speed. In particular, some boards default to 2X but have a setting to
enable 4X.
Also check that the video frame buffer (whatever it's called; I don't
think it's called that) is at least as big as the video memory size
(128MB in this case).
