[pchelpers] AGP Card

With regard to the message, I've sorted out the problem, and it wasn't to do
with the card.

But if someone could give me some advice regarding the retention mechanism I
would be grateful. I've the card installed without this and it seems to be
working fine.

Thanks
Scott

Subject: AGP Card

I just recently bought a used video card Tornado Geforce MX(440)8x 128MB.
But there has been problems since I've installed it.
First of all when trying to start up some game I get a message that there is
not enough windows free swap space. This has never happened before. I took
the card out and the game works fine.
The opening some files the computer just shuts off.

There are one or two factors and maybe someone on the list could inform me.
First of all my AGP slot is an older one and in my motherboard manual it
says that I need to get a retention mechanism. I don't have one, but the
card went in no problem, and there was no problem installing the drivers.
Second, the slot supports up to 4x. But as I understand, the card should
still work, but just at 4x.
Third. I'm using a Celeron 688 with 128MB memory. I've an Intel D815EEA
board running at 66Mhz. So I don't know if maybe the card is too big and
powerful for the board.

Could some of these factors come into play, or is it could it be just a
faulty video card?

Thanks for your help

Scott

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
