[pchelpers] 15 hour scan

A friend of my son was having trouble with his computer. So my son
offered to look at it.
After a while he came to me. It seems that everything kept locking down
while trying to scan it.
So I took out the hard-drive and slaved it to mine. The first thing I
did was to scan the drive with AVG.
Sure enough it found ws32.korgo in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Then
it found another infected file, and another.
It went like this 25..50..100..500..1000..2000 infected files. 2hours
and 20000 infected files later I shut AVG down.
Good thing to, cause AVG couldn't heal or move the files. I went to the
net and found a removal tool for korgo.
I ran it in safe mode and went to bed. Next morning it was still
scanning in the "n"s. Came home for lunch and it was in the
"T"s Came home at 5 and it was through. The report said that it had
scanned a total of 105,000 files and had deleted
922,000 infected files. No wonder the computer was locking up on
scanning, it was choking down. Do you all know
how long it takes to open a folder with over 900,000 files? Each file
was 12K and created on 7/4/2004. It is a good thing
my computer had 1gig of ram.
