Hey Carl, you awake?
I tried making more coasters, I mean xpsp2 boot disks. It says I made them successfully when I do the record. But when it says booting with cd rom, it says failure and proceeds to boot to my c: drive.
So far a mystery to me. :O)

Hi Carl,
No, I cannot boot with the xpsp2 cd. I get a can't find ntldr, which is on the cd where it is supposed to be.
But I've learned a way around this, which I have not tried.
Boot the computer with a dos startup diskette. Switch to the drive where the xpsp2 cd is and switch to the I386 folder. Oh heck, here it is below.

My new xpsp2 cd doesn't have that winnt.exe program on it and a lot of other stuff. Looks, like it is back to making an xpsp2 cd.

Note 1:
A lot of people appear to be unaware of the fact that you do NOT need the 4, 5
or 6 setup disks in order to install Windows 2000 and XP. A common Win98 boot
disk such as the Boot Disk Essentials diskette below can be used to install
these OS's. This is what the Win XP System Setup Disk above does. Here's how to
do it:

1.. Start the computer with your chosen boot disk.

2.. Change to the cdrom drive.

3.. Go into the \i386 directory on the cdrom.

4.. Run WINNT.EXE to begin the install process

Hey Bob,

I was just saying thanks to Pam. Her 11 year old boy did not even jump. It scared the dictens out of me.

Btw, can you boot with your new SP2 Slipdisk.

Carl

You sure know how to set a guy up Carl. :O)

Now I noticed you did a badie and used freelists, so I gotta get some computer stuff on here. :O)

After one installs sp2 one should make the xpsp2 slipstream cd to replace your old xp cd, as it is now out versioned and isn't good for much, except, making the xpsp2 slipstream cd. This is because sp2 makes xp a newer version, which obsoletes using the original cd for much. You might save yourself a lot of trouble if you make it now, while your computer is working. It's hard to make it on a crashed computer, but hey, you Texan's can do most anything. :O)
