That is normal for a power supply to let go if the fan stops or it fills up
with dust, they should be cleaned every three months or establish a
periodicity  based on opening and cleaning fans and processors fins and
fans. You should have a least a 250 watt power supply. Dave

Sorry for disappearing like this. I turned on my PC
Monday night and smoke started to come out of the
Power Supply. I turned the machine off. I live in the
country and just got into town to get some
computer-fix-it books and to check email on the public
computer.
