Oh.
I thought it was the other way around.   I thought XP SP2 firewall  blocks
incoming probes but not outgoing "call home" type connections.

Hi Carl,
Why are you fighting using the xp firewall?
My ISP recomends using the sp2 xp one and turning the others off.
Especially, to prevent problems like you are having.  :O)
