Good grief..no wonder nuking it out of the start up..doesn't always work..Should rename it to "One of many start up possibilities" :-) or "the only place you might have control over what programs that you use and are visible ".

There's many more than 2 places. Of the two mentioned, one is the list
of things that get started everytime Windows starts up, and the other
is the list of things that gets started up every time the particular
user logs on.

There's also a pair of entries for things that run only one time, a
pair for services, a pair for services that run only once, and a pair
for those things that you see installing after you've upgraded IE,
which run in strict order, not at the same time. And those are just
the more commonly-known ways of starting programs at startup or login
time; there's also such things as startup and login scripts, BHOs and
so forth.
