I think I saw a movie about the Cross & the Switch Blade back in late
50's-60's.

you know of the book " the Cross and the "Switch Blade"
Nick Cruz was a nyc gang leader...Dave Wilkerson at the point of a knife
and ridicule and constant threat won Nicky over to the Lord. Teen Challenge
started up..This is organization that deals with drug addiction. It is a
Christian based organization. It has the highest success rate in the world
because of this. Pulls no punches.
I was under the impression that somewhere in Texas was a huge Teen
Challenge center..
I know YWAM is there. I don't know if YWAM is still going strong in HI. or
not..They had a very strong presence there in Koana Hi. So strong that when
you lived there you almost forgot that not everyone there was Christian..
You just took it for granted that everyone was and went around all the time
saying " Praise the Lord" When you got looks you wondered why...soon you
realize the opposite was true..Very few were Christian. Very transient, but
their presence was so strong you forgot that..tremendous testimony. How I
would love it if everyone who ever came in contact with me walked away
saying " Praise God" I was with a Christian..! But I am just a dumb ole
schmuck trying to get thru the day the best I can without murdering
someone..ha! Don't you feel like that someday's.
If I could just get my hands around saddam's throat...!
Any how I digressed way to much..Got carried away..

    Hey Carl
Bet you didn't know I use to be part of "Ywam" back in the late 70's and
early 80's. My son was part of their youth group and dated a girl from their
club.. " Kings Kids "
I ministered at a Christian Retreat center in Hi. called Makapala and
many a time they would come to our Christian retreat and minister.
We would often go to their place in Koana Hi. They were the last place I
went to just before coming to AK. I use to know many of the leaders there at
that time. I think ( not sure of this ) that they bought out Makapala.
I know I am gettingthis one mixed up..but isn't " teen Challenge" also
in Texas?
This kind of dates me for sure but Nicky Cruze and I go way back.

    Wow!
    I am impressed.
I will pass the website address on to my family
in Whitehouse, TX (a sub of Tyler). The niece and
her 12 year daughter are very heavy workers in
    Whitehouse 1st Baptist.

    Thanks again.

      | Hi Bob,
      |
      | Yeal you're right. I should let well enough alone. But hey,
      | I like change. I like to try new things. I like to meet
      | new people, try new foods, drive new cars, get new computers
      | and put new software on them. :-) I like to take
      | different vacations each year. We go to Tyler, Texas some
      | 200 miles away and I enjoy trying new routes. If I get lost,
      | I just enjoy the scenery while I ride. No, I do not ask
      | directions; that would take all the fun out of the trip.
      | :-)

      | Hi Carl,
      | Have you learned your listens about messing with all these
      | kinds of programs
      | yet? :O)
