| Dear Dianne,
The big six energy companies - like British Gas and Npower - are ripping us all
off for billions of pounds a year. [1] Today, their rip-off tactics made the
front page of a national newspaper - and together we can do something about it.
[2]
This week Theresa May said that she was going to crack down on rip-off energy
pricing and the companies making billions off it. [3] Now it’s up to us make
sure she sticks to that promise.
A huge petition demanding that Theresa May commits to cracking down on the big
gas and electricity companies will let her know this is something thousands of
us care about. It’ll make sure it’s not just a sound bite and could be enough
to end rip-off pricing for good.
Please sign the petition today to stop rip-off gas and electricity prices.
It’ll only take one minute:

All of us need gas and electricity, to keep our homes warm and to cook our
meals. But that doesn’t mean big companies should be allowed to charge huge
prices on confusing deals. [4] And as winter gets closer, no one should be
forced to choose between heating or food because the bills are too high.
38 Degrees members have taken on and beaten the big energy companies before.
Last year over 30,000 of us joined a collective switch to other gas and
electricity companies and together we moved around £32 million out of the
pockets of the UK’s biggest energy companies. [5]
But this year we can go even further. Together with enough pressure on the
government to act we could make sure that laws are passed to stop these
companies ripping any of us off in the future.
Please sign the petition today. It only takes one minute:

Thanks for being involved.
Louie, Rachel, Bex and the 38 Degrees team.
NOTES:[1] The Big Six is the name given to the six biggest gas and electricity
companies in the UK: British Gas, Npower, Scottish Power, EON, EDF and SSE. The
majority of us currently get our energy from one of those companies.[2] Rip-off
energy pricing from the big six effects over 90% of households in the UK. It
costs the average household £400 a year. And for poorer, and especially older,
people the cost of heating a home can be life threatening. Last year a
staggering 9,000 people died from not being able to heat their homes. The Sun:

Last year 38 Degrees members did two collective switches to other gas and
electricity companies. We came together to use our collective power to
negotiate a great deal with other energy companies. Through those two switches,
30,000 of us switched our energy, and took a huge £32 million away from the big
six energy companiesYou can read more about the Big Switch here:38 Degrees: The
