II have a few RSVP's that don't make sense.

Sam - bringing scope?
Also, teacher and what topic?

Don - bringing scope?

Paul - I confirmed your request in another email

Rick - bringing scope?

Read the above email and then reply
if you wish to be a teacher, and what subject
also let me know if you are coming with a scope

and I notice we only have 1 real class attendee.

Pam is a Maybe, not a confirmed attendance.

Input?
I thought we'd have a bigger turnout of attendance.

See this link to know what I"m referring to, please

*Topic: This weekend's NSTS of Mar 18*
*Attn: PAS Members*

Sam, Thank you for the forecast.
I would like to know, tomorrow morning, the status one more time, Please.

Everyone reading this....

Here's the plan... Due to the weather, we are going to make the NSTS of
tomorrow Tentative
based on the forecast and recommendation Sam sends out to this email list
serv.

Sam & the Weather Watching Team, how about a forecast around 10am. I pick
this time becuase an earlier forecast may not show exactly what the clouds
are going to be doing, and so a later-in-the-morning forecast, may give us
more details.

For those of you who aren't watching the weather.... clouds are becoming
a factor in tomorrow's event so much that we may need to cancel the event.
Too many clouds makes it a hassle to set up scopes and try to find objects
through clouds, as well as get to the objects before the clouds take away
the view we all want to put our telescopes on. Remember, this event is
based on the fact tha we are assisting each attendees in finding the
objects in the night sky. And if the clouds are in the way and we have to
wait for the clouds to move before we can find that object, or maybe some
attending scopes found the object (example: Orion Nebula) and then clouds
took it away for the rest of the attending telescopes... which would be
annoying. The other thing is we need a clearer night because we will be
talking about and sharing around eyepieces and filters to get an idea of
what the attending telescope class members may wish to purchase, in the
future, for their scopes. So, it all depends on the clouds for tomorrow.

As of Thursday morning, yesterday, this is the initial forecast, and it
has changed a little, but based on this forecast, here's what we see...

NOAA 26% clouds 8 mph winds 0% rain

TWC 50% 6 mph 0%

Accuweather 81% 5 mph 0%

Weatherundgd 34% 6 mph 0%

Skippysky 60% 5 mph ?

yr.no 50% 6 mph 0%

Clear outside 66% 4 mph 0%

We see no rain, the winds of up to 6mph aren't an issue, but we do hope
that would die down or we may have trouble keeping our eyes open to view
anything. A Breeze across an open eye is not pleasant to experience. And
long time viewing through the eyepiece means the eye is open for quite a
while. Plus, if the breeze causes your eye to produce tears, then you have
a blurry view as well.
And then we come to clouds. Now, we know that sometimes we can get away
with 10 or 20% clouds in the forecast, which usually means a large cloud
collection that gets in the way but moves out soon, or sometimes those
clouds predicted can just sit on the horizon. If the cloud cover is more
than 20%, it is questionable if we are doing this type of event because not
only do the clouds get in the way of sharing an object to view through the
night, but also if the clouds are white and fluffy, and thick, the city
pollution reflects on them and the viewing quality of the night goes down.
Reflected light during this type of event isn't a good thing. The idea is
to enjoy the view and the darker the night, the better.

So, that's my thoughts on the initial forecast situation.

So, here's my request. I would like an extensive forecast for wind, rain,
cloud cover and the status of the clouds (high thin, or thick and low,
etc...) around 10am tomorrow morning.

Those of you who want to attend, need to monitor your email for this
announcement.
If the evenet becomes canceled, the goal is to get the notice out by
10:30am.
All thoughts, weather update, etc, please send them back through this
list, right here, in this list serve since many members are planning to
attend the event. This way, everyone gets the notice.

So, if you were planning to attend, check your email earlier, if you want
to read up about what we are discussing, or around 11am, for the update and
decision of to have the event or to cancel.

I'm going to go put Perfect Potluck on the page so that just in case we
have the event, the signups for dinner will be availble. Please go pop into
Perfect Potluck and add your food when you see this email and then help
monitor the weather forecasts. Anything you see on TV, hear on the radio,
see on line, send the update through this list. And then we will look at
Sam's forecast in the morning, or Alex, or Don... I'd like input from all
three if possible, to make the decision.

I'd also like recommendations... with the forecasts. Thanks.

Thank you all for your weather watching assistance for this event.

Everyone have a most spectacular Friday!

Terri, the following are 7 weather forecasts for Sat night in Carefree
as of 7:30 am Thursday morning:

NOAA 26% clouds 8 mph winds 0% rain

I would not want to try to do a NSTS with these clouds averaging over
52% .
Do you want to do a final weather analysis Friday morning or wait until
