"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and
the stars, which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care
for him? Psa 8:3-4

"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you
understand.

Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a
measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone-

while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for
joy?" Job 38:4-7

"He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit."
Psa 147:4-5

Just some personal thoughts...

Subject: Ask PAS

At the recent Rancho Gabriela school event held on May 1 several
students asked what we did. The usual replies were that we look at the
stars, planets, etc. thru telescopes. Then one student asked, "Why?" As
amateur astronomers I found it a difficult question to answer. If we
were professionals it may have been easier to say why. So I thought I
would pose this to you as an "Ask PAS."

"Why do we, as amateur astronomers, look at astronomical objects?"

Matt
