I just hate to see shows that have a good storyline "re-envisioned". It
never works. There's actually been a movement among BSG fans for a
continuation of the show. 20 years in the future. What has happened to the
fleet? Adama is dead and now Apollo leads them. How have they held up?
Disregard Galactica 1980, which everyone one the f-in' planet hates, and ask
what would happen if they'd spent the last 20 years limping through space to
find Earth.
I agree there were a lot of bad episodes, but the good ones had some real
promise if they hadn't been constrained by the late 70's TV writing formula.
Take those nuggets, let them progress over 20 years and then see what story
you have now. Add in today's visual effects and the fact that sci-fi fans
can wait more than one episode to see a storyline resolve and play out, and
I think you have a good foundation for a story.
But the stories I'm reading are for a complete re-envisioning of the series
from the start. None of the original characters. About the only similarity
I've seen so far is that they will have their homes destroyed and that a
ship called Galactica will lead the survivors. That's it. Similarity over.
Hello? Firestarter: Rekindled. Need I say more?

I hate to burst your bubble, but plese tell me what continuity they could
possibly be damaging with Battlestar Galactica?
I love the show too, but the average Battlestar episode was much worse than
the average Star Trek (from any generation). And the worst Battlestar
reached was far more painful than the worst Star Trek. I'll watch an
episode of Voyager before I'll watch the gunfighter episode of Battlestar
again (Don't mess with old Red Eye).
Then there's that little nightmare we like to call Battlestar 1980....
