Or, come up with a brand new character.
Spidey's original player is no longer around, but he'd be a bad
choice right now since he has some issues to deal with after a recent
adventure. The only X-Men thing that would be good to know is that the
whole "mutant" thing hasn't become an issue in the Sansoniverse. We've had
Sentinels, but that was for use against all super powered foes, not just one
type. You could play an X-Man character of course, but so far there has
been no distinction about how supers get their powers in the cultural
mindset.
