Only because I'm killing time before a meeting...

No argument here. What the hell do I know about Mac
pricing?

Actually, it's very hard to buy a PC without a
pre-installed MS OS. Unless you're building from
scratch, most are shipping now with XP. So we can
forget about this price handicap.

Hardware includes attached LCD, nVIDIA GeForce

By the way, Eithernet is about the funniest typo I've
ever seen. I'm not picking on Greg's spelling, I just
think it's a cool concept. Collision Detect? Or
Collision Avoid? You can do both with Eithernet!

Instead of going to a mainstream vendor like
Cybernetman (!?), I thought I would cruise to a couple
of really obscure PC makers in order to match Greg's
spec's and prices.

Dude! You're getting a....

Dell Dimension 4500S, P4 1.8Ghz, 128MB, 20GB, CDRW,
15" Flat-panel, HK Speakers, Windows XP and Works 2000
suite, GeForce Card unavailable - $989.00 Add $159 for
ATI Radeon video card from Dell (or buy whatever card
you want because it's a PC)

Comparing Greg's lo-end system with mine, it seems to
come in about $240 less. The price would have been
about dead-even had I upgraded to the 17" flat panel.
To be fair, the Intel motherboard only has 2 USB
ports, but the PC still uses PS/2 and IDE to connect
mouse, keyboard, and floppy drive. So the average user
is not going to suffer for lack of USB connectivity.

And now I have killed enough time that I can go to my
meeting. Before I go, I do think you should all go
look at Alienware gaming systems. Not small. Not
cheap. But very cool.
