[oxfordgamers] Re: Issue of the day

  Hemp production is currently illegal thanks to the Hearst family (see
Reefer Maddness in the 50's and associatted smear campaigns), and since it
is considered to be somehow like mariuanna (sp?), it is not at all popular
as a product to legalize. The usual argument is that even though hemp is
not useful as a drug, you could hide pot in the fields too easily.
  Personally, I would say that big business is winning alot more than
environmentalism, but "tough on crime" is beating out both.
