Right. I guess every Bond flick since Goldeneye has
kind of blurred into one big sucky BMW commercial.
Whereas Die Another Day is a much less sucky Astin
Martin commercial. Take all of my comments about
Tomorow Never Dies and just insert The World is Not
Enough.
And I do recall liking Yeoh, but TND begs the question
what qualifies as a Bond Girl? Bond's big love scene
was with Paris Carver (Teri Hatcher), who got whacked
soon after. Parhaps they split the Bond Girl duties
between two actresses for TND.
In TWiNE, Denise Richards was just, well, stupid. I
was really hoping that character would end up in the
same building with a really large explosion. And the
whole movie left me a little cold. Too much gun play,
not enough espionage. But we at least got Judy Dench
and John Cleese in the deal.
Jinx just rings truer to the genre for me. What I like
about the character is that she is able to be some of
Ursela Andres and Michele Yeoh. It's dynamic. I think
the Bond franchise has been looking for a new spin for
the Bond Girl for the last few movies and I think they
have it right with Jinx.
