I disagree, Brandon. By allowing the use of a word processor like
Microsoft Word, a student can learn a new way of constructing the sentence
and simply type it that way the next time. And, because it is typed on
screen, there is no need for an eraser or having to scrap a whole sheet of
paper because you whacked the grammar in a paragraph.
Actually, given the age of computers, we can now teach people how to write
properly, as in the mechanical process of forming a letter on paper so
legible hand-writing can return. My writing is very legible, almost
typewriter-like. I also spend a lot of time typing.
I believe that computers are tools to help improve us. Children are more
apt to read a web page than a book. Okay, put the book up on the web page.
And, today's upcoming generation want interactivity. You can't do that
with traditional pen and paper or a book. It is in the elementary age that
the teachers should be impressing upon the kids that he computer is a tool
to assist them with their learning tasks. The fact is, when they go to
work, they will have to have some sort of computer operation skills.
I do not believe that on-line balloting is a complex issue. There is a
simple programmatical solution to the problem, but no one has yet had the
sight to see it. All computing problems are simple problems. Complex
problems are a collection of simple problems combined. Just break it down.
