[oxfordgamers] Re: Aternate Streamlining

RE: [oxfordgamers] Re: Aternate StreamliningI think it was more a reaction
from watching all three seasons of X-Men: Evolution in three days. Let's
just say I had X-Men on the brain.

I wouldn't say I'm diving into Nightcrawler per se. Venom is still my
favorite character I have or have thought about. I just wanted to try to
make Nightcrawler so I could at some point play him. He's still a long way
from completion and I didn't have plans of bringing him in for a while
anyway.

I will admit that after finally getting Venom up and running the way
you wanted him to be, and as enthusiastic as you are about Eddie, I'm
surprised you would want to rush into another character so fast. I mean,
Eddie hasn't even managed to get his JLA decoder ring yet and you're diving
into Nightcrawler. You've got some great stuff going with Eddie and as a GM
I'm looking forward to putting that to good use. Plus I think you have a
real excitement for Venom that you might regret not putting more into. At
least until he is more established.

As they say, everything in moderation. Sanson's concern is a very
real one and I can't argue that just tossing in new characters all the time
would be bad for the game. I still would like to reserve the right to
occasionally do something different without having to scrap a character to
do it, but that's an exception to the rule and not the norm that I'm talking
about.

I'd like to play a cosmic other than Supernova sometime, I'd like to
try out a Cape and Mask who's different than AGF sometime too. I would
absolutely hate to have to retire these guys just so I can try something
new, I have too much invested in them for that.

But then, this is different than the scenario Steve is justifiably
worried about. I'm not talking about a Nico's Character of the Week
syndrome. I agree that something that dramatic would be a problem.

I like Mike's idea, basically promoting common sense on the issue.
Let's not rule it out, but let's discourage the proliferation of excess
PC's.

You're only saying that because you want to play Nightcrawler
without
      giving up Venom. :)

Seriously though, I don't agree. It makes it harder to plan an
adventure, not just in terms of plot, but more importantly in terms of
sub-plots (romance, work, etc.) if people have too many characters.

I also don't think it's fair to say that C&M is our Bread and
Butter.
There have been about as many Suicide Squad games as there have been
JLA games. And of those, many involved Cosmics, or mixed Cape & Mask
      and Cosmics.

I guess I can see how if you were a salamander Amphibian-American
would be a step up, but it seems to me you should call a toad a toad.
