Heh, Chad, have you read many of the Star Wars novels? There was a
creation, pre-Death Star, which had hyper-dense armour, which could
easily stand up to a blast from a Star Destroyer, and which had as it's
main gun, a neutron gun, that caused Suns to go Nova.
Yep, why bother destroying Planets when you can destroy entire Solar
Systems?
But, it was a small, 1-maned ship, and the Emperor ultimately decided
that was too much power to trust to any one person (other than
himself), and it wasn't big and intimidating enough, so it never was
used. Mostly. :)
