I'll just go for one 5 gallon batch.

And are there still 6 people going in on this?

Excellent. Thanks for chasing this down. How about the financial
logistics? Do you accept PayPal? :)

It will depend on what they are picking that day, but generally a mix.
These are good quality never touched ground.

Sounds good. I'm in toward 1 bin. Is a bin of a single variety?
I'm down in Rhea County tonight & tomorrow and there's an orchard
selling "deer apples" (assorted varieties, bruised, rotten spots) for
$6/bushel. I don't know if that is worth pursuing (cut out bad spots? OK
for cider?) or not. Their #2 ("seconds") apples are $15/bushel, which would
put us back up to the previous figure.

Here are my notes from an apple supplier for apples coming from
Hendersonville NC. He can do up to 3 bins on a trailer load.
He says he gets about 20 bushels per bin. The price is better with more
bins per load.
$125 one bin
$230 2 bins.
That works out to hopefully less than $20 per five gallons depending on
yield.
Let me know if you want to commit to more than one batch. Otherwise I
will finalize details tomorrow morning for delivery around friday for one
bin.
I could do 15-20 gallons towards a second bine if people are game.

Hello Overmountain Brewers,
After many phone calls, I was able to locate some apples. I have spoken
to a lot of various places and I wasn't certain we were going to find the
amount needed for a decent price. Per Link's experience and input, in
order to account for a 5 gallon batch you need to have 3 bushels.
I have a contact that has the quantity we need, with a couple of
different varieties.
They are $15.00 per bushel.
This means for a 5 gallon batch it would be $45.00.
The meeting had 6 people interested, so this means we need 18 total
bushels.
I need to make the call tomorrow 10/14/2016 by 2:00 pm, to confirm we
are going to take these apples.
Then I need to arrange for the payment and work on the pick up.
Please let me know ASAP who will commit.
Thank you,
Donna
