Hi Chris,

It's not really security that's a concern.  Source code repositories give
you some useful features for managing the source code when multiple people
are working on it.  For example, it keeps a master copy of the source code.
When people submit their updated copies it alters the master copy, and if
someone submits a copy where someone has already submitted a change to that
line of code, it will flag it up and ask them to manually edit the master
copy to take into account both changes.  So, a source code repository makes
working with the source code in a project where more than one person is
working on it a manageable task.  There's also other great features about
using one.  It's something you don't really think about until you start to
work on projects where there's more than one person.

In the worst case, we can have the informational web site on one server,
maybe even a shared hosting account, and use Source Forge for things like
CVS, FTP downloads, bug tracking, etc.
