[OGD] Eulophia petersii

Since the subject of African orchids came up, I thought I'd mention that I
currently have Eulophia petersii in bloom on a 6-7 foot inflorescence. I have
noticed that each rhizome lead will produce either a new growth or an
inflorescence, but not both in a single year. It's only when the rhizome
branches that the plant produces both a new growth and an inflorescence, one on
each lead.
I suppose that growing such an enormous inflorescence takes too much time and
effort to allow a new pseudobulb in the same growing season. Are there other
orchids that have this very slow, deliberate growth pattern?
FWIW, I have tried both selfing and crossing to another plant (though maybe
they're the same clone) but have never obtained viable seed.
