Innisfail's Sea Haven project approved
A RARE orchid will not stand in the way of a $130 million marina
residential development at Innisfail.
Federal environment authorities requested fresh surveys of the Johnstone
River-side site for the rare Dendrobium mirbelianum - native to North
Queensland and Papua New Guinea and listed as an endangered species.
Authorities said the original flora survey had not been undertaken
during the orchid's flowering season. But their new study has not found
any trace of the species.
