Your statement that "Listener is started at both server and client sides." leads me to believe that you are more confused than you think ;-) There is no listener on the client side. Well, there may be, but it is not an issue. Show us the actual contents of the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files on your client, and listener.ora and sqlnet.ora on the server.
