Interesting and worrying problem, as you say
Obvious question but I assume you are using 10g exp to export the table
with the binary_float column?
Have Oracle come back and suggested what you are supposed to do yet?
Moreover I wonder why datapump does not export the XML objects. Is it
ever likely to?
